DESCRIPTION

Nuno felting is a dynamic felting technique that offers another level of textural possibilities for textile artists and surface designers.  No prior experience is necessary for many of these workshops although some exposure to surface design would enhance what you take away.  I have been working with this technique for 10 years and still find it offers enormous opportunity for exploration.

MODULES:

Workshops

Nuno Felting – 1-day Intensive.  A brief presentation and demo of the technique will be provided.  The remainder of the workshop will be dedicated to a hands-on experience of the steps involved in producing this felted cloth.  Participants will take home a small personal sampler and written materials outlining the technique.  1 day

Nuno Felting – Weekend Immersion – This is an expanded version of the intensive.  Day one will involve an intro and sampler; on day to each participant will be able to continue exploration based on discoveries made on day on and/or create a finished piece of art work or a wearable item.  We will take time on both days to evaluate completed pieces and look at the implication of pattern layout choices on overall textural outcome as a way of informing future design approaches. 2 day workshop

Nuno Felting Master Class:  8 week, 3 hr studio sessions exploring the full range of nuno-felting/felt collage techniques available to the small textile studio.  Ultimate goal would be to produce a body of work for “exhibition”, the exact nature of the final presentation to be determined by the class.  Please email me to inquire further.
